Freedom Friday!

Source
Today I just don't have it in me to post ... well, not about politics, anyway.  I got to work at about 8am with a satisfying mocha beverage and jumped into the day dancing to The Locomotion with several students during our morning announcements (Fit Fridays - yay!)  Sadly, that's about the extent of my exercise these days.

The day was long and tiring, and as luck would have it, on the eve of a glorious three day weekend, I'm coming down with something.  No worries.  It was a hard day, but a good one.  The only thing that discouraged me was the two hours after school I spent writing sub plans, creating activities and assignments, and arranging my room so that a substitute would have some chance of survival for the two days I'd be gone next week.  And that was after working on this for two hours last night.

If you ask me, it's just not fair that it's way more work to be absent than to go to work.  Good thing I don't get sick often -- it's absolute hell to have to write plans when you're sick.  As a good friend used to often say, "If I don't show up -- carry on without me!"  Like that could ever happen.  The only way we can't show up and not have plans ready is if we die -- and if we know that's going to happen, we'd better write the plans first!

Anyway, I tried to get a gang together for a happy hour after work. It's so sad how many people didn't make it there -- perhaps too exhausted from 2-3 hours of writing sub plans (yes, at least 12 of us will all be out on Tues/Wed.!)

BUT, HURRAY for the friends who made it!  It was the perfect end to the day and I had such a nice time.  So there -- the weekend has begun, I've been wined and dined (well, beered and dined), and I'm looking forward to a well-earned rest this weekend.

I do have a list of topics I'd like to vent about, but I'll save it for another day.  I'm just going to enjoy this happiness for a while.

Happy Weekend!

  1. I thought our evening at Hamlin Station was a blast! We saw so many people we knew there, plus our little group was a talkative bunch, as well. Good food, good drinks, good company. Perfect spot for Staff Relief! Hope you're feeling better! And, btw, I love your blog!
